About West Community Friends Church

We believe.....
In one holy and loving God
who exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Trinity)

That Jesus Christ was fully God and fully man,
born of a virgin without sin, worker of miracles, who atoned for our sins through his substitutionary death on the cross.

The Bible, the holy scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, to be God's Word, the only inspired, authoritative, infallible source of truth.

Since Adam's rebellion and disobedience, all men and women are born with a sinful nature and we all need a Savior.

Jesus Christ died on the cross, shedding his blood for our sins, and was resurrected bodily from the dead to make us right with God. We receive the forgiveness of our sins and the salvation of our souls by grace through faith in Jesus only and not by trying to be "good people".

The Holy Spirit lives within every person who truly receives Jesus Christ.

Jesus will come again to bring salvation to those who received him, and judgment to those who rejected him.

Who we are...
West Community Friends
opened its doors on Easter of 1994 in the Promenade Cinema. We wanted to start a church that is:

Contemporary - great music and creative communication

Comfortable - no stuffy clothes, no arm twisting for money, no making you stand up and introduce yourself?

Understandable - whether you've been in church your whole life or not a day in your life, we wanted you to be able to "get it."

Practical - to be helpful in your daily life.

Friendly - not just nice people but a place to make some great friends.

Faithfully Christian - without apology we are devoted to Jesus Christ and the Bible. We believe God offers the best direction and ultimate answers for our lives. If we didn't, there would be no point in being a church.

Our Purpose:
Walk people step by step from disbelief to discipleship (becoming a faithful follower of Jesus Christ).

Values That Guide Us:
Worship makes our hearts willing
When we get a glimpse of who God really is, we can't help but get humble and willing to let him have his way in our lives.

Everyone needs Jesus
There is not a person alive who doesn't need Jesus' forgiveness and God's loving direction in their life. Rich or poor, handsome or homely, evil or nice, successful or not, we all need Jesus more than anything else in life.

We need each other
We cannot become the people God wants us to be on our own. We learn from each other. We support and encourage each other. We need to love and be loved, serve and be served.

We make our community better
We want to make a lasting contribution to the community we live in by getting involved and providing helpful programs and services that meet needs. We want the community to be glad we're here!

God has a job for each of us
Christianity isn't a spectator sport. God has given each individual spiritual gifts and abilities to use in making a difference in the lives of others. We will help people find, develop and use their gifts and discover God's purpose for their life.

Pray first
When we have to make a decision, we will pray first. When we are confused, we will pray first. When we are ministering to another, we will pray first. God gives answers when we pray first!

We make sense
We will not waste our time and resources on ineffective, outdated programs and ministries. We have to meet needs and make sense to people, otherwise there's no need for us to exist.
